Description

NEW PRICE! The 1957 Corvette was a carryover of the re-engineered 56 Vette that likely saved the Corvette from the chopping block. The ’57 built off the huge success of the ’56 by increasing the engine size from 265CI to 283CI. It was the first year for Fuel Injection, 4-Spd Trans and a Posi Rear End. It was also the first car to achieve 1HP per cubic inch with the 283 Fuelie rated at 283HP! This ’57 Vette came off the St Louis Assembly line on July 31,1957 and still retains its original 245HP engine! The engine casting # is 3731548, Engine casting date is F137 (June 13, 1957). The engine assembly date is June 25, 1957 (Eng Pad Stamp is F625EH). It has a 3:70 Posi rear end and the correct Warner T-10 4-Speed Trans. A complete frame off restoration was done some years ago and is finished in Venetian Red with the Beige Side Coves. The convertible top and top pads were replaced during the restoration and is in excellent condition. The paint is a solid 9 on a 10 scale, the seats and carpet are also in excellent condition. It has the optional hard top with original glass and weather stripping. The side quarter glasses have some crazing, and the weather stripping has some cracking due to age. The new weather-stripping kit is included with the car. All gauges, including the clock, speedo, tach, odometer, dash lights, interior and exterior lights ALL work. It also has the original Delco Wonder Bar Radio that still plays albeit not always perfect. The Wonder Bar seeks stations, but does not lock onto them, but there are shops that specialize in repairing these radios. The cold start up is perfect, one pump of the gas pedal sets the choke, and the car immediately starts on fast idle. After a brief warm up and a tap on the gas pedal, the idle steps down to a perfect smooth +/- 700 RPM. This car runs and drives as nice as a ’57 Vette can! It goes down the road smooth and straight, the steering is solid, the braking is straight and responsive. The frame is rust free and has no indication of previous damage. This car has not had a NCRS Top Flight Judging, but it would certainly be a good candidate to have judged. If you are looking for a great looking, turnkey C1 Vette, you don’t need to look any further. If interested in more detail, there is an Excel Spreadsheet documenting carb #s, generator, distributor, ect., part #s and date codes. Price includes free heated storage until Spring! And Remember “Life is too short to drive boring cars” Ken – (262) 573 8269
